About Scottish Hockey
It’s an exciting time to join Scottish Hockey.
We have an experienced, ambitious board, a skilled and motivated staff team, and a Scotland-wide legion of passionate, driven volunteers.
Hockey is a hugely popular global sport for a reason – it’s fast, progressive, and with a 50/50 gender split, and players from grassroots to 70+, it’s arguably the most inclusive.
In Scotland, our membership of 13,000 is engaged, growing and performing. We’re one year into our Reset, Build, Excel programme, and we’re creating our next long-term strategy, to drive us to go even further.
About the role
We’re looking for at least two new Non-Executive Directors:
One to lead our Commercial and Business Development activities:
You’ll take a lead in driving us to explore innovative ways to build and grow our reach, activities and reputation as we seek to build our financial sustainability and lasting partnerships. You’ll bring expertise in unlocking commercial potential, by identifying opportunities for generating income, making connections and building mutually-beneficial partnerships.
One with alternative expertise which will help us to reset, build and excel:
You’ll bring skills and expertise which will complement our existing board. This could be through strategic leadership, sport, inclusion, health, finance or elsewhere – we really are open to hearing about how you could contribute.
Our board is responsible for ensuring hockey in Scotland is safe, regulated, and well-administered, with strategic goals and a well-supported staff and volunteer team. In practice, we’d ask you to:
- Share your skills and expertise.
- Challenge our thinking and share your own.
- Commit to our values and act as a role model.
- Promote our work positively and attend occasional hockey events.
- Contribute to our effective governance and compliance.
- Attend 4 online board meetings, 4 committee meetings, and 1-2 in-person strategy days each year.
